Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the education systems of all European countries. School systems have responded quickly to this crisis, adapting the current system of work to changing conditions and moving relatively smoothly to online education. This has required a much more intensive use of information technology. Although it might seem that owning a computer is a matter of course today, according to the EU SILC 2019 survey in Slovakia, in 2019, 26% of households included in the sample did not have a computer and 25% of households did not have an Internet connection. In this paper, we focus on the characterization of those households that do not own a computer and households that do not have an Internet connection.
